Had to come here and say how sad I am that Andy Irons passed away. The news was from Surfer Mag: SURFER_Magazine Sad news: We're sorry to confirm that 3x World Champion Andy Irons has passed away. http://bit.ly/dpV8OT
We had many common friends and shared stories and meals many times. I can certainly say Andy was one of the nicest people I've met. He was always considerate and took time to talk to people. Never carried himself as anything but one of the boys. Sometimes you feel so sad about a news that you just can't even think or know what to feel, this is one of those times.
AI was one of the best surfers of all time, a 3 times World Champion with an incredible gift for surfing and to ride big tubes. I was always his fan and loved his epic battles with Kelly Slater. One of my fondest memories was being at the Volcom house for his 3rd World Title party along with his brother's Bruce bday party. He was so stoked it was contagious.
It goes to show, we're here in this Earth for a short time, enjoy each day, love your family and friends as there are no promises as to how long we're here for
My thoughts are with his family. RIP A.I.
